What to discuss
A broken tile is different from a worn-out tiled roof. We check whether matching replacement tiles are available and assess ridges, valleys and junctions. For wider renewal, the proposal should also describe battens and underlay so you know what happens beneath the tiles.
Agree what is included
A clear proposal distinguishes what stays, what is removed and what is newly installed. Ask which connections and finishes are included and which findings remain uncertain. Record changes and their price before giving approval.
What affects the price?
Compare the same roof sections and tasks before comparing prices. The total should explain materials, preparation, removal, access equipment and finishes, with clear exclusions and a process for approving additional work.
Preparing the work
Take photographs only from a safe place. Do not climb onto the roof yourself.
Tell us about your roof
Give the address, affected roof section and when the problem occurs or what you want to improve.
Inspection and proposal
Agree the inspection and its fees, then review materials, tasks, costs and any open questions.
Agree the work and access
After approval, arrange access and scheduling. Changes and additional work are discussed before proceeding.
Completion and maintenance
Review the completed work, keep the documents and agree how to report concerns and arrange maintenance.
Common tile profiles and families
| Profile or family | Identification | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Oude Holle (traditional Dutch tile) | Wavy S-profile; traditionally without interlocks | Historic dimensions and overlap |
| Improved Dutch / VHV | Curved interlocking profile | Not automatically interchangeable with OVH |
| Opnieuw Verbeterde Holle / OVH | Curved tile with its own interlock and dimensions | Exact version and batten gauge |
| Tuile du Nord | Flatter body with a characteristic roll | Versions have different dimensions |
| Double-pan tile | Longitudinal grooves or recessed double profile | Interlock and laying direction |
| Flat interlocking tile | Even, flat appearance | Flat appearance does not establish pitch limits |
| Plain tile / beaver-tail tile | Small flat tile, often with a rounded end | Laying pattern, overlap and total weight |
| Roman and Mediterranean profiles | Pronounced curved roll | Profile-specific accessories |
| Mission / monk-and-nun tiles | Separate curved lower and upper tiles | Support, fastening and coverage |
| Large-format and flat concrete tiles | Profiled or flat concrete product | Load capacity and existing dimensions |
