THE HAGUE & SURROUNDING AREA

Under-roof layer

The layer or assembly beneath the visible covering; its design depends on the roof system.

Dutch term: Onderdak

A practical example

New tiles do not tell you what happens beneath them. Ask which under-roof layers will be inspected, retained or replaced.

What should you ask about it?

Ask the contractor to point out the component on an overview photograph or drawing. Confirm what will be done to it and whether adjoining work is included. This turns an unfamiliar term into a clear agreement.
